Obsession with blood

My son is 10 years old and has just been diagnosed with ASD. my worry at the moment is his obsession with blood and talking about stabbing himself because he "wants to bleed" is this part of the autism or something different? It's getting a bit tricky in school as the other children are alarmed when he starts saying these things and the teachers are very concerned.

has anyone else experienced this?

  • hi Makayla - I haven't experienced this, so could you tell us a bit more, such as how aware he is of the pain and damage he will cause himself?  What you and school have said to him about it?  Where the obsession may have come from?  Sorry I can't be of help but maybe by posting again something may strike a chord and the replies of others may be more useful.  I do hope things improve soon.
