National survey of Autism and Criminal Justice system. 2 different views of the same facts

however the government website said it was to try and stop autistic spectrum people etc from committing crime.......

The study that has been agreed was launched on 23rd December and the first phase closed 4 weeks later.

There is now supposed to be .a second phase of this with “lived experience “ that was supposed to be happening this month, but the organisers have told me they don’t have a date yet or system.

it feels like this is not a serious study to help the problem of innocent autistic people who get convicted, (which looked like the original intentions ), but is just going to be distorted before they start doing it.

we are 7 times more likely to be arrested but much less likely to be criminal. Easy prey for the police

what do you think?

Is this another case of the National authorities avoiding being honest about their lack of understanding of ASD and not really looking to admit they’re not doing things well

  • If you accidentally or purposefully break the law, you are still a criminal in the eyes of the law.  

    I got a speeding fine at 35 mph on a 40 mph road that I'd used for 15 years when the council changed the limit to 30 mph and didn't tell anyone - except the 'enforcement officers' strategically parked in their radar van the next day.

    I accidentally broke the law - still got the penalty.

    The problem is in issues where the intention is very different with ASD people eg Gary McKinnon hacked into US computers for UFO info, but Americans state he was doing it for terrorist reasons.

    I have been convicted for following my doctors advice and contacting someone who lost me £200,000 and rendered me suicidal. Justice system made out I was doing it to distress him! About 30 seconds of desperate phone call. This whole drama, which includes other stuff, has resulted in my near death permanent disability and £2m loss since I was arrested. Ruined my life.

    • That is why I feel this should be made fairer. 

    £300,000 of public money wasted on putting me to trial etc.

    Please tell me what you are talking about. I know I have been bankrupted  and ruined by the police and a bank. The media have never reported my side of the story. I now am hoping the CJS review may get support from others here. This posting was not intended to be about my case, but the CJS .

    the media and politicians are a experts at manipulating facts, but we ASD people are hopelessly naive and honest

    Dave - you were much less careful when you first joined this site and gave away enough information for anyone to do very thorough searches - not just the headlines and salacious stuff, but digging into the facts and details - you were not treated at all well - but, to be fair, you brought it all on yourself.     And in reality, it's ancient history to everyone but you - and the people close to you who you continue to torture by refusing to move forwards.

    If you are now totally unable to be honest even with yourself, then you need more help than is available on this site.

    I just get really uncomfortable with the way you appear to be trying to hook 'fresh' vulnerable people into your tale of woe.   

    As a bystander (with a good memory), it looks incredibly manipulative - I don't know if you can see that - and I feel that it's really not appropriate (imho).

    The real facts were never in the media, just allegations made to look like facts. That is exactly what scams are.....

    Your precise understanding of the law combined with the real facts about what you did back then don't support your current crusade.

    For your own sake (and taking your own advice from other threads), move on with your life.

    I have nothing personal against you at all, I'm just really uncomfortable with these repetitive threads you keep starting trying to push your crusade from a different angle every time.

    Traffic laws and littering are strict liability’s laws and motive is irrelevant.i

    The legal concepts in criminal law involve having guilty motive (mens rea) and guilty action (actus reus) at the same time (concurrent).

    in ASD there is often not the guilty motive, but a different often rare motive that is not understood by the neurotypical laws.

    I knew my motives were about saving lives, the law made out they were about causing harm.

    This is the essence of the current problem with ASD and the justice system

    I certainly don’t feel I ever broke the law, but the police arrested me for their own gain.. they thought they could extract £300,00 expenses from me.

    And I know you always criticise me.... and don’t read the main posting properly
