Specialisterne

Hi,

Anyone had any experience of Specialisterne.  Abilities aside, I have problems in work because of relationships and expectations.  I told the agency about this an how it makes me depressed and they said they could no longer help me.

Anyone had similar experiences with this group?

  • I haven't but from what I've seen from their website and googling a few news articles I like where they're coming from.

It looks like the mainland UK operation has gone though - although they appear to be operating in Ireland/Northern Ireland. At risk of my disappearing down a rabbit hole (I've an almost insatiable thirst for information so will end up looking at accounts, videos', training courses before you know it) they seem like an organisation worth reaching out to if you're resident there.

Reading your reference to an agency I'm guessing that you're moving through temporary work which might make things harder. It's a learning curve for employers as well as employees on how to work with the diagnosis - it isn't just a case of "fitting in" or making X or Y adjustment and forgetting about it - and short-term contracts just aren't going to work with some people.

I think NAS might be able to help https://www.autism.org.uk/what-we-do/employment

    Best wishes

  • The agency I'm referring to is Specialisterne.   I called them that because that's what's they seemed to be. I told them I was on antidepressants and wasn't sure if I could handle a workplace like the last one and they told me due to my disclosure a mental health charity would be better.  This is in the time of covid.  I think they may have just wanted an employment outcome and weren't offering the full service but they didn't say that.

  • Oops.

I've just re-read your original post and realised in my head I'd seperated the agency & Specialisterne .out. No, I don't why I did it either because your post made perfect sense.

Sorry. My bad. Flushed I'll shut up now.

(Although it's checked my initial rosy view of the company and I'm a bit shocked by their response to you. Looking at the website some kind of in work support about the issues you raised is what I would have expected - although I'm wondering if this in-work support is limited to companies they're partnered with.

I'd encourage contacting Specialisterne in writing about your experience and see what they come back with. It may be a mis-communication, or it may be that they don't offer that on-going support like you say. Either way they need to be made aware of your struggles and their response to it because I would have thought that being the specialists they claim to be they would have been the best people to support you)

  • Also thank you for the links.  I've tried to sign up for a few things
