I have the 1667th highest score on a pinball machine

It's only a virtual one. Whatever happened to the real ones? I don't see them much around anymore.

Anyway the machine I have the high score on is a simulation of a real Williams pinball machine called Tales of the Arabian Nights.

The Williams pinball machines are beautiful. Have a watch.

  • Oh man, I looooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeddd pinball. The machines at Uni probably swallowed up a good portion of my funds back in the day. I have a fond memory of wasting many an afternoon with a beer and the Star Wars / Adams Family ones.

  • What are you getting at, man? Do you like playing pinball?

  • Some pinball machines of the old type with real balls and real flippers are still around on some seaside piers and vintage arcades.

I would imagine maintenance costs are quite high with all the moving parts and the punishment they get from frustrated players, so as with everything these days profit rules and pinball machines have gone electronic which saves money for the businesses in the long run.

Like you, I like the feeling of being in control of something, not ruled by the whim of an algorithm that controls the movement according to mathematical formulae and computer programming.
