Does your assessment get sent to your GP?

hI, iI'm just wondering if anyone know this? I had my assessment in November and assumed my report would be sent to my GP as well as me. I've recently changed my GP and they say they haven't got a copy of my report? I told them I have a copy I could copy for them but I assumed they automatically get sent notification?

  • I went private - and agreed a copy of my report should go to my GP. TBH I wouldn't be surprised if my GP just marked my medical records with the diagnosis and dumped the paperwork.

  • Ethan, I have two or three quite historic  psych assessments which are noted in my GPs records, but when I enquired a few years ago there were no reports or  paperwork of any kind, so my GP didn't keep them. I also  tried to get them from my district hospital who did a search and said they didn't have them either, it seems some things just don't survive.

The lesson here is to always ask for a personal copy at the time of the assessment and keep it safe.

I later went private and my GP has not been informed.

Absolutely. I've a hardcopy of my full report at home and an electronic summary copy for my employer (present and future) stored in a safe place.
