Hey
recently come to terms with having ASD. I want to talk to more people who are similar to me. I’m a female so as I’ve read online we tend to slip the net. But would like to hear from anyone not just females as we are all going though the same thing
Please reply or drop me a message !!
Hi,
that's interesting to hear. I think a lot of autistic people have problems with it.
I’m exactly the same as all you just described!
feel free to join in any of the discussions and indeed start your own, maybe about one of your hobbies or pet hates
Hi Sam, welcome to the forum.
Hi
And i have concrete understanding of language, like sarcasm and metaphors. Its difficult for me to understand jokes intuitively.
Hello,
I was diagnosed with ASD 2 years ago ath the age of 22. I am struggling with making friends, because its very difficult for me, to understand the minds and emotions of other peole. I cant understand social situations like small talk, but i train it .
I think u are new so Welcome to the forum
Welcome Home!
I’m female too meant to say!
Hi Sam
i was diagnosed as being on the spectrum just before Xmas (fitting criteria for aspergers and also dyspraxia) I’ve just Turned 47 so have been diagnosed rather late in life! I’ve always felT different to others and struggled with social interactions and making friends. I’m also struggling with how to introduce myself now even though I’m online! Anyway just thought I’d say hello! Have you recently been diagnosed also?
That’s great! Recently decided to get on this community thing and not able to use it properly so bear with me haha. Yeah I have adhd as well and suddenly I must be playing on being unfocused... not that I’ve done that my whole life haha
what are your interests?
Yes let’s connect! No I’ve not recently developed it I’ve always had it but just realised lol
Hi Sam, I’m a female and was diagnosed early 2019 at the age of 27! Happy to connect with you as sometimes it can feel really lonely, especially when people don’t change their attitude towards you as if you’ve only recently developed ASD!
Welcome Surely to this forum, main thing is to have fun
Hi Sam, same as you I only very recently came to terms with having ASD. All my life I thought it's hopeless that I will ever meet someone else who is like me. Now that I realize it is a clinical diagnosis I have some hope again
Regarding coping, I can recommend the books by Cynthia Kim. They resonated a lot with me.
Thank you I will do
