Adult referral

Hey

I went back and forth in my mind on whether I should seek a diagnosis or if I would be wasting peoples time and that I don’t necessarily ‘need’ one. But I spoke to my GP in the end and apparently he was sending off for a referral... so this was about a month ago. I am aware It can take a good while to hear anything. Just curious what peoples experiences are with this in England? How long have some of you waited? And how do they contact you? Thanks :-)

  • I’m some areas it exceeds 2 years - if you end up moving whilst on waiting lists, your case isn’t automatically transferred in all cases - you have to be referred again as I found out to my detriment. Due to covid I’d imagine the backlog is greater now than before as the services have had to decrease the number of people they see to be covid safe and many shut down altogether for the first lockdown. Either way when you are close to being seen you should receive a letter, you may also be given some surveys/ screening tools to fill in as well.
