Spiders

Don’t know if this is the right place to discuss this but I always react to seeing a spider and will not calm down until the spider is out of sight or a while after. Do you have any strategies to prevent this, because seeing a spider is obviously inevitable and would like to be prepared for the next time

  • I personally am able to ignore spiders, but a past partner whom I now suspect was also on the spectrum was very phobic of spiders. So I am very reluctant to suggest her solution was a vacuum cleaner on standby!  My suggestion is to keep reminding yourself (in UK and Europe) spiders are completely harmless and it is "hard-wired" in the human brain that insects are to be avoided!
