What's your special interest?

I've noticed there a lot of posts on this forum about making friends and finding others who share an interest, so I thought I'd start a thread where people could talk about the stuff that really interests them and maybe connect with others who feel the same about that topic. I hope that's okay, and I'm sorry if a thread like this already exists and I missed it.

I know I have several interests which I get VERY excited about and would love to find others to geek out with on - as it can feel really lonely to not have people who share the same passion or get excited about the same things. But I also love listening to people talk about things that they're really passionate about too, so I would genuinely love to hear about everyone special interests too.

I find it really hard to make friends and am always cautious about talking about the things that really interest me, after years of being told that I'm weird/creepy/boring for getting obsessed with stuff that I like. But that's just me, and if I get passionate about something then I can't help but  focus on it. And that makes sense to me. Why wouldn't someone focus on something that makes them happy?

  • I used to have special interest, when I was a teenager - painting models, but then busy life made me stop it and forget about it, past 10 years I had similar positive effect when cooking, but I'm not cooking that much anymore, now, that I'm single again, thus I need something else, so I'm thinking about reviving it.

  • revive both

  • I need someone to eat my food in order to cook

  • and I do not know when people are lying, that would lead directly to paranoia, that they are lying to me all the time. Stuck out tongue

  • but managing people is hard,  cos people are hard! I do it and wouldn't recommend it!

  • You could be a different type of manager!

  • Very busy supermarket, 5000 customers daily.

I thought about it, working in a restarurant, and it's a no for two reasons, one, here in Brighton they treat poeple working in kitchens worse then slaves, and so they all drink to much, so I could never even socialise with them after work, two, i'm selflearned cook, started when I was 32, and I know cvery little, but what I can cook is tasty, healthy, and everyone loves, and some of it could pretend it's from Come Dine With Me, but during interview for a chef that wouldn't sell.

second type of job I say no to everytime is being a manager, I could never make people do anything, and I would never go to bullying to make them, so I would quickly get sacked for being useless.

  • if u are good at cooking ,,, i am serious you must push it everywhere.    sorry, please remind me,,,,  are u working at the moment ?
