How do I get rid of toenail fungus?

I developed toenail fungus a year or so ago when I was walking very long distances every day and sweating a lot in my socks. I've began to drop oil of oregano on my toes to try to get rid of the fungus but just wondered if anyone here has medical knowledge or experience with this issue. Thanks in advance.

  • Hello Chips, please speak to your Doctor! If you are in pain and it is worrying you you should seek medical advice. It could be a number of things not just fungal infection, it could be something serious like gangrene or other bacterial infection. Please speak to your GP.

  • In these situations, prevention is better than the cure.

I also have had toenail problems, a few years ago I went on long walks with the ramblers association.  These walks were too long and at a pace that I struggled to keep up.  Shortly afterwards I discovered that two of my toenails had turned completely black.  They died and new nails grew underneath them, the black nails eventually fell off.  The whole process took up to six months.

  • Thank you very much for the reply. I appreciate it's not an Autistic issue. It has been worrying me a lot though. I've had pain in my toes for a while after eating meals and I don't like how it looks either.

  • I used treatment for 12 weeks for toe nails. Terbinafine or itraconazole taken every day to get into the nail, Topical treatments rarely work.

The nail does take 1 year to fully grow out

You can buy meds over the counter as also used for thrush. But very expensive for a 12 week course so see your gp and ask for 12 week course

Not really an autistic issue though
