Has anyone tried Transcendental Meditation to try and help ASD anxiety and distress?

I’m looking at what can help my distress and am attending a TM event, but suspicious of its costs and limitations. I can’t find any good research evidence for its use in ASD people over the age of 30. Since I know antidepressants are poorly effective in us, I do wonder about TM especially as it is quite expensive  £590 for 4 x 2 hour sessions. Anyone has any experience of it.  Positive or negative?

  • Hello  and thank you for your post.

Eleven months ago I saw your post but could not reply.

I paid for transcendental meditation by doing gardening for my father in his American back yard. The cost was much cheaper over there.

As for transcendental meditation effectiveness, I find this technique very useful. Did you decide to pay for the course?

Research papers into transcendental meditation elaborate much of the scientific research into stress but there have not been any studies showing a sample size as you said for individuals "over the age of 30".

    Competent.

  • I am sorry DaveAsperg, to begin with your question: Can I help you?

This is where I should have mentioned your name in your original post on Transcendental Mediation. I wanted to let you know that I studied Transcendental Mediation and it has worked for Asperger's syndrome anxiety and distress. The mind consciously surfaces below the level of thoughts and when no thoughts arise the time passes by at that level of consciousness transcending the waking, dreaming and sleeping state of consciousness.
