Today lots of people are wearing grey  Nike, Adidas, etc. (reminds me of Nazi Germany, all the grey uniforms) most of it with artificially made materials that harm the environment. When you wash an item of clothing in the washing machine, if it's not made of cotton or wool or other natural fibres, the miroplastics run out of it and into the drain and kill creatures where the water runs.

This is a quote from the website I've linked to below:

"Outdoor gear, leggings, fleeces and jumpers made from acrylic and polyester, polyamide, spandex and nylon shed up to 700,000 microfibres with each wash. Once in water, microfibres are difficult to filter out and studies have shown that these fibres are now being found in tap water in many countries."

  • Greetings, "Chips". I wanted to Thank You for the Links... I had often wondered about such clothing/attire... and why I Myself (for One) am hideously *Allergic* to such things (Polyester, Lycra, Spandex, Nylon, ManMades, etc.). These indeed count as "Plastic clothing"?

...Also It is interesting how this Thread has developed; "what You wear" interpreted from WHAT (Chemically) is worn, into what (Fashion, colour, style, impression, etc.)... is worn.

...Misinterpretation is easy to do, so it is better to try to reinforce what might be originally intended by the the OP (opening post), than to enter too far into debates totally forgetting the original point. There are other Threads discussing "fashion" and what is worn, so I assumed that this Thread was not at first intended to digress towards that.

Apart from that... um, please excuse My interrupting, anyone. But I really am glad to know this about "ManMade" Fabrics.

I think that most folk wear these things because they are the least expensive, I know not why, than proper fabrics such as Wool, Cotton, Linen or Silk (which I have to wear due to said Allergies).
