Clothes are our armour.     What you wear gives a very strong first impression and will cause a reaction in onlookers.     Grey & conformist means no threat - no response required - ignore & carry on..

Anything flamboyant puts a question mark over you - you are unknown and so further investigation leading to the need to fear or dominate the newcomer until status quo is returned.

Most people choose to fit in because their lives are difficult enough already so why attract extra negative attention?

I'm not attacking you at all - I'm genuinely fascinated about people's motivations when I can't understand why they do the things they do - it's a real, basic, child-like 'why'?

It's not very polite to come into a thread solely to namecall.

What makes you think it's appropriate for you to make such personal statements denigrating me?

But it's not just about the clothes, is it?    It's where you go and what you're doing - it all contributes to attracting unwanted attention.      If I walked around in Harlem dressed in a Klan outfit while swinging a lynching noose, I'd guess I'd last about a minute before something very bad happened to me.

Other people seem to manage just fine so again, what attention are you trying to provoke?        Are you trying to punish your parents by forcing them constantly worry about your safety?

In the past I wore a dark hoodie, dark jogging pants and trainers. It didn't stop people picking on me. Youngsters up to no good seek out people wearing them clothes and target the ones who look the weakest so I got targeted because I'm short and have a soft face.  

It makes me feel more depressed if I go out wearing dark colours. I don't know why, it just does. Bright colours cheer me up. I like houses painted brighter colours. 

So you actually choose to wear clothes that you know will antagonise and cause trouble for yourself but then why complain about people picking on you?    What is your *real* motivation?       Some kind of validation for being *so different* and ramming it in people's faces?    

I honestly don't understand what you are trying to achieve apart from getting lots of attention - you don't seem to mind if it's positive or negative.

But we all are different. I do lots of thinking so don’t bother to choose clothes carefully 

If we all followed that logic, life would be dull. No hipsters, hippies, rockers, metalheads, etc.

Fight your battles wisely - why go looking for trouble?
