I got into trouble at work for using humour which others found funny but impolite
yea thats quite common. Yes you have to be careful in work, others will laugh but that doesnt mean you didnt do it. If it is sexiest or dirty/blue anyone can complain and that sets of all sorts of processes.
Been there, done that, learnt not to do it again !
only simple non political/family/christma cracker/non-religious/non racist silly jokes see how big the list is ! 
also the bosses can tell jokes of nearly any type..
