The amount of help for Autism is disproportionately low

There is some research that shows Autistic people can live half as long as NTs - not always, but for many that is true.

Most money for mental health is pumped into drugs and therapy, which is basically just an industry of money makers.

The sad truth is, the government, councils, the system do not care. They're responsible for thousands of early deaths.

NTs treat us worse than dogs. They see dogs as valuable even though they crap all over the place and can spread disease but they don't see us as valuable if we cannot work, just as for the most part dogs don't.

  • It's so true, you just go round in circles hitting your head off of a wall. We're put into groups by "function" which is a disgusting way of describing humans and is really just a convenient way for neurotypicals to describe how much work it will be to interact with us/have us in their lives.

Then the DWP, well try claiming PIP/ESA, its a nightmare. They will mess you around by losing your forms, sending you for an "assessment" were a paramedic or physiotherapist will decide you're not "disabled" enough to claim benefits so you go and try to get a job only to find that the NTs don't want you in their work place.

Access to Work will state one thing on their website but the reality of what support they actually dole out depends on what their NT assessor decides they want to give you.

Being an autistic adult sucks, I can't even call myself autistic at work because some lentil knitter has said that the correct term is "person with autism", erm hello I think I get to decide what to call myself, thank you.

  • All the more reason to let my PIP go; once I receive my share of the sale of our home and land.

I can cope with having to pay full-price for bus and rail travel; as I would probably move somewhere closer to public transport, therefore require less money for diesel. Plus, I am work-ready.

  • Not really. If you feel happier letting it go, that's fair enough. You're still entitled to PIP though and while the system isn't always fair, you can appeal, and most appeals are successful.
