Youth theatre - social distancing

I run a youth theatre for children aged between 10 and 14. I miss it so much and we were mid rehearsals for Singing in the Rain when Covid struck. It sucks. We tried to go back last week, we had them in groups of 15 and got them to spread out as much as possible. We did a body percussion workshop.

Bear in mind that lots of them go to the same school and are in the same "bubble" there. Well I put photos out of the workshop as it was really successful only to be told but the church that we are overseen by that we had not stuck to social distancing. I was gutted.

I really don't think it would be fun for any one to stick each child in a box on the floor and try to do theatre. We would spend all rehearsal telling them to stay apart. I don't understand why they can't be together at rehearsal if they are in the same bubble at school. I certainly know that we can't do Singing in the Rain socially distanced.

I emailed parents to say we are going to stop meeting and review at October half term. I just don't think it will be fun. But now I am worried about losing children. We started this show in January and now I don't think we will be doing it til next year. We had a plan to film it in groups of 15 but I don't see how this will work with social distancing.

Am I being too stubborn? Will the children accept and socially distancing and still want to come along? Do we not do SITR  and do other things whilst we wait for the rules to change?

I just don't know if I have made the right choice.
