Masks

I wear a mask in shops as for the looks I get not wearing one , give me more anxiety .

The other day in Tesco I was asked rudely by a older looking lady why I wasn’t and I replied I’m Autistic and she shouted in my face that’s not a disability ! Thanks to a Tesco staff member who stepped in front of me and told the lady that it is a disability and has a daughter who is on the spectrum and please get on with her shop .

Has anyone else had a bad experience?

I have depersolization when I panic this Tesco lady saved the day for me .

  • Hi Nick

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I get a weekly groceries delivery, so if I need to go into a shop it's only usually for a few things - so I thought I would try wearing one to prevent any possibility of funny looks or abuse, but wearing a face covering was a bad experience for me so I got an exemption badge. I've only been into a shop once so far without a mask and wearing the badge - it was ok and nobody said anything bad.

I started a thread called "Experience of not wearing a face covering" where people have been sharing their experiences of not wearing one.
