Partners energy drink intake

hi,

im really needing help. I am finding things difficult as I am my partners carer and in no way want to control him but he is starting to make himself ill every now and then because of his energy drink intake. It is then preventing us both from living our lives both together and separately and we are due a baby in 8 weeks!
I need advice as to how I can get him to cut down, I say to him after he’s had one “maybe it’s a good idea you don’t have another one today”, and he manages to wiggle round it to make excuses.
I am not gonna lie I’m at the end of my tether, he’s making himself ill and I have no idea what to do. I feel like I have no idea what to do since he’s highly functioning and is able to make his own choices.

please can someone suggest a plan? He completely understands when I can’t help but show I’m upset, and says he’ll make an effort to change but when he’s in the moment fixated on the situation in front of him it’s so difficult for him to take it in as I say it and overtakes him. I don’t want to be bossy, but it’s also beginning to really affect us. Please someone suggest some ideas!
thank you.

  • Hi. There was an energy drink That I used to have 2 cans Of a day but purely down to the flavour.
I couldn’t get enough of it. But started to suffer with kidney stones as didn’t take in enough water and was probably dehydrated.
After 4 bouts of absolute agony and a 5th of having to go to hospital and have lithotripsy (sonic blasting) to reduce stone size I saw sense and come off it.
Now I’m not implying it was the direct cause but it didn’t help.
Since then I’ll drink dilute orange and mango or black currant and water  in a litre bottle/flask 2-3 times a day and Fingers crossedno repeat stones.
I made a mistake or drinking a 1.5 litre bottle of an energy drink In an hr or so years ago... I physically couldn’t stop moving for 2 hours because if I did I couldn’t see I was that hyped up. ( would appear I didn’t learn my lesson then..) wasn’t a good feeling.

  • I went to a Motorsport event years ago and a well known energy drink company beginning with M was there and they were giving them away free. That day I had five cans and was waiting to get an autograph and was standing still but was trembling like a washing machine. At the end of the day I was in the back of the car on the way home and the effects of the drink wore off and I fell asleep and didn't wake until I got home.
