Hello,
Is there anyone here who finds that their Autism has been beneficial to them in their work and life, and, if so, how?
Hello,
Is there anyone here who finds that their Autism has been beneficial to them in their work and life, and, if so, how?
My entire career was based on my Aspergers - I went into engineering and my Eidetic Memory meant I could memorise everything instantly - like the part numbers for 5500 items in the stores or all the parts lists for all the products. My memory meant I could learn all circuit diagrams so I 'knew' everything and could fix everything. I memorised all the operating procedures and paperwork systems,. This made me look very effective from day one. (Think 'Neo - I know Kung Foo" or STNG Mr Data).
My interest in all tech meant I understood how everything worked so I could design very simple, cost effective solutions in a tiny fraction of the time all the others took to do inferior projects. All my stuff just worked - and stayed working.
Unfortunately, others began to rely on my abilities to save the day - which meant others could get away with slacking off - which loaded more stress onto me. That's usually the indication that's it's time for me to move jobs.
