Sadly some autistic people have negative experiences in retail stores

Sadly I am aware that some autistic people have negative experiences in retail stores.

Retail security staff receive very little, if any, training or guidance on dealing with autistic customers.

The UK home office and the Security Industry Authority, which regulates retail security staff, are consulting on a code of conduct which will set out the standards of behaviour it expects security, including retail security staff to uphold.

The last day for taking part in the consultation is today, the 23rd February.

It is in the interests of the autistic community for you to have the opportunity to complete the survey.

This is a rare opportunity for people with autism to guide the retail security industry in how to properly treat autistic people visiting stores.

You can include examples of poor treatment you have received from retail security staff, when you complete the consultation, as well as examples of positive treatment.  These examples you give may be included as guidance by the Security Industry Authority to security staff in how to better interact with autistic people.

Please read the draft code of conduct at :

www.snapsurveys.com/.../code_of_conduct.pdf

Before completing the consultation at :

https://www.sia.homeoffice.gov.uk/Pages/code-of-conduct.aspx

Please take the time to take part in the consultation above.

It is an opportunity for you in the autism community to have your views, experiences and concerns used to educate and guide retail security staff in how to treat you and other autistic customers.
Thank you.
P. S. Moderators I hope the above is okay. I checked with the Head of research before posting it as per the rules and he is happy.
