No Poli Ticks, a better Voting system?

With all the wet wipes and chocolate teapots that I've been witness to this year, I feel like there is not one party or person I can vote for.

But I've been thinking (Dangerous!) ha.

Why vote for parties and people?

Why not just vote on policies instead?

I have in my head that if I could vote for a policy for example (legalising Cannabis)  DIGITALLY,,

Then Print my vote as well,

and after my vote has been taken electronically and counted I can hand in my print so that can be counted to make sure there's been no funny business.

I say Digital Voting because I can pick all the policies I want to vote for in one sitting.

rather than the same old crap example (say the Conservativs wants to increase education and housing but want to privatives the NHS

But Labour wants less education and housing but want to remove the privatisation of the NHS.)

I want for example more education and houses but I also want the NHS to be without the private company's.

I would rather not vote for either party I want to vote on the policies period.

What do you all think about this?

  • The problem is everyone has different views and if there's as many pro as against, nothing would ever get done.      You only have to watch that Channel 4 complaints advert to see how everyone's opinions amount to just noise.

Political threads on a forum are always a really bad idea because of this - they usually descend into a slanging match or a bullying game if you don't follow the prevalent herd mentality.

  • True I can't agree more but I have mentioned no politics, just a discussion on bettering the voting system.

Plus If you add the option of who's approach to how you want the policy to be carried out and by which party I doubt there would be a tie.

What are your ideas what would you do to better the voting system if you could ?

  • First past the post is the only system that can work - if you look at any other proportional systems in use, they are a mess with ineffective governments arguing amongst themselves.     The 4-year term is a time limit to see if they are doing a good job - if not, they get voted out and the other bunch get a go.

  • The NHS thing was an example I was using not a reflection on my true view point.

I have an Idea where alot of the problems lie and that also the greed of Banker and the position that they have put us in has been well understood for a long time.

  • I think your assumption about the safety of the NHS is way off the mark - but you're choice is your choice.      The main problem is the bankers have encouraged countries to run massive debts up so all countries are broke so all 'costs' need to be slashed.

The other problem is that governments see the people as mindless drones - cheap to replace - so why bother educating or healing them - replacement is easier - with a more malleable drone - one that will be satisfied with 'less', work harder for less money and is afraid to cause trouble........
