West Midlands Transport "Please offer me a seat" Scheme

The West Mid!lands transport Network has started a similar scheme to London Transport by making available a badge and cards for those who have difficulty standing on a bus or train or tram, or who have communication difficulties.

Details are on

networkwm.com/seat

My request for a badge and some cards was dealt with very quickly and I got them two days later.

  • (Thank You for the links, Sir... I typed in a much longer reply just now --- but it disappeared!! So annoying! I think I might have to reset/sign off now, so annoying!! But I *really truly* mean the THANKS for the latter links, there. Honestly, Thank You.  *'GRRRRR' to NAS, at times, again!*)

  • Hi DC

    The link is:

    https://tfl.gov.uk/transport-accessibility/please-offer-me-a-seat

There is an online form so you don't need to ask for one person to person.

TFL wouldn't send me one even though I attend meetings in London and have to go on the underground at least twice a quarter.    But reports I've had from people who have one have been positive.

Yes, schemes such as this, the sunflower scheme, and also the fact that if you go to the 'quiet' (disabled) lounge at large stations you can ask for assistance to get to your train (even being shown to your seat while the train is being checked before the 'mad rush' at London Terminals are all schemes that should be put on one of the pages here ... what about a page with 'Help Schemes for autistic people on the NAS site?  They all need publicising as knowledge of them would prevent much frustration and problems.  And there are probably many more such schemes out there that we should mention - the Radar Toilet scheme (which also unlocks 'shortcuts' at some places I have found! for example.  Radar keys can be obained online, I like the one with the big brass 'head' which you can find at

    https://www.radarkey.org/index

But Argos also sell the blue heart head one and various copies of the keys can be found at Amazon or on ebay..  The disabled toilets are often cleaner, do not smell as much, and have more room and privacy.  There is often a sign on the ouside these days saying 'not all disabilities are visible'.

No doubt other schemes will come to our attention, so if someone finds a similar scheme in another place for 'Seat Badges' please don't keep it to yourself, I am sure others would like to learn of it!

Glad Tidings, Mr. 'Spotter/BrainsFromThunderbirds... This is Me, just posting a working link (!) and liking the Thread. And putting a Reply on it. But I have never seen (I know not where to find) a "similar scheme to London Transport" as You say... anytime You fancy, please put a link-ish thing for that, Thanks.

(Everytime I ask "the public" for anything related to disabillity, they just give Me a dubious look and say: "Oh, We've run out!"... so I no longer try for such things *in public* anymore. Feh.)

...Another one of those "Just getting it out there", Threads... Thank You again, from Me at least!
