Closure denial - the big bang theory has me thinking

Does anyone else have issues with closure? I need to have closure or I think about it obsessively and it feels like I want to crawl out of my skin. This could be closure from conversations or situations or anything really.

This just came up on the bug bang with sheldon.he described it similar to me! It feels like I want to crawl out of my skin!

I need to get past this but it's so hard

  • My wife and kids used to call me Sheldon a few years before I even considered that I might have autism :-)

I especially relate to Sheldon's observations on gift giving !

  • I know it's a comical version of life but theres also relatable elements to sheldon character. For instance, he knocks 3 times before entering a room. If interrupted hes compelled to continue the ritual. I used to do this but with the light switch. It had to go on and off 4 times before entering any room. I was thought to have OCD as a teen because of this. I didnt realise until researching that people with asd can also do this. Sheldon has a need for routine too. Yes it changes sometimes but his need is there. His submersion into his subject (science) he gets completly lost in the subject hes working on. His trouble with understanding social rules and concepts is apparent through the show. Theres so much more relatable content. Anyway it's a nice, easy watch for me :)

  • I try to avoid the internet - it's too interesting - but watching tv with the sound right down so it's unintelligible is quite dull.      I watch old rubbish like 'Chasing Classic Cars' or 'Wheels That Fail' until I fade out again.   I was up at 1:33 today and must have faded out around 3am.

  • 2am! I know that time well haha. I'm here now wide awake thinking about the most random things so I'm online for distraction. 2am will be here soon

  • Anything unresolved or unfinished keeps me awake - my brain seems to like to wake me up at 2am specially to process these issues - but the are unresolvable - so I get to watch a lot of early morning tv.

I go from 0-100% processing in a second - and it stays that way until I can divert it with rubbish on the telly.

  • Yes exactly! If somethings unfinished or even if i dont know the outcome of something I feel like I'm itching to get out of my skin and it will play on my mind over and over for what feels like an eternity lol.

So the use of the itchy jumper sheldon gets Leonard to wear so that he can understand what it feels like is a good comparison.
