Disclosing

This maybe a weird question and no-one has given me the right way to do this

It has been suggested from an autism coach and my manager at work that I may way to disclose my Asperger's to my colleagues

I haven't got the faintest idea how to do this without it sounding like an introduction at an AA meeting

I've only been diagnosed since end of June 19 so this is all new to me.

  • I haven’t disclosed at work, having been diagnosed after I started my job. My employer has signed up to support autistic employees, so should I be more open to disclosing? Not sure, as I don’t know how those in the team I am in will react. One of my few friends (I don’t work with them) know about my diagnosis and they have been great about it. When I disclosed to them, we had been talking about mental health related issues and it just came out unplanned. I had only recently been diagnosed at that point and hadn’t done any planning on how to tell anyone. One of the reasons I haven’t disclosed at work is that I don’t know what if any adjustments I want. And if I don’t want any adjustments then I don’t know why I’d disclose.
