Really interesting article, especially as I was only talking about this with my partner a couple of days ago i.e. that Thunberg called her autism a 'superpower' and I said, yes, but only because she's had early diagnosis and support, rather than suffering decades of physical, psychological and sexual trauma.
If we lived in a world that celebrated diversity, I believe my autism would be a (positive) difference because, in the right environment, we Aspies are leagues ahead of our NT peers, and there have been times throughout my life when I have moved mountains. However, the reality for many—my current self included—is often a constant social and sensory bombardment, which disables us each day before we have the opportunity to shine.
