I once heard a woman say that people who have autism are a lot more spiritual than people who don’t have autism.
Does anyone have anything that they would like to add to this thread?

yea i am on the spectrum and have always been spiritual. Years ago, I did a test to see what career I should do and it said to do something highly spiritual like working in a church which i always thought of as funny. I have always felt like a star is just above my head that keeps me safe and guides me. Is this due to my autism, it could be, I dont know.
But my logic side says no there is no such things as spirits ,,,, I am just imagining it. But when the *** is down my star pops up again. Now I just let it be. If there is a star above my head then great ! :)
Are u agape spiritual in nature ?
I guess that for many people who are autistic finding a sense of connection in the human world can be difficult, and that probably drives many of us to seek connection with something other than human society.
For me I found this sense of belonging to something greater than myself in nature and experience a deep sense of connection to the planet and all life on earth, particularly when I am in wild places that have less impact from humans. This sense of belonging to something much greater I would call my spirituality. I don't think the quest for spiritual understanding is more prevelent in the autistic community but I can see why it might appear so.
When we have problems I think we recognise the importance of spirituality but maybe the difficulty for asd people to believe in something that defies logic and is so big for many centuries and now seems to have become a commercial answer for problems that medicine cannot solve
I think that she didn’t mean it in a competitive comparative way but as an expression of her experience in her life as an experienced autism researcher and public speaker. She seemed like a nice lady. Yes I wonder what she meant by the word spiritual? I was wondering that myself too.
