suicide and humiliation of vulnerable people

I read about the Jeremy Kyle show's Steve Dymond and his sad death after humiliation by Jeremy Kyle. To me it sounds like Steve was on the autistic spectrum and was certainly vulnerable. 

What do you think?

Do you think there should be a law against humiliation (especially of vulnerable mental health individuals) by public bodies and the media (especially as this is World Mental Health Week)

It would be fairly straightforward to get a mental health assessment done before media used humiliating information

(I have been on the receiving end of this stuff and feel terrible)

  • I don't know the details of this case, but I have heard about it. To be honest, I think humiliation in general should be banned - even if someone passes a mental health assessment, they could end up struggling with their mental health as a result of their experiences.

    I definitely agree that TV programmes need to be much more aware of mental health and wellbeing. I think that programmes like the Jeremy Kyle show have had their day and have no place in an inclusive society.
