Hi forum,
New member here, I’m an adult/f/30’s waiting for a diagnostic assessment. While I wait I have been taking some time to read related literature.
So far I have read the following titles
I am waiting for a delivery of
Does anyone on the forum have any experiences of the following titles?
In addition to this I am learning that the signs of autism in women are suggested to be different from that of men so would be keen to read more about women’s experiences of autism. Does anyone have any experience of the following titles?
finally, if anyone has any recommendations for books not listed here would you please share them with me?
thanks in advance.
this post is appearing 3 times what went wrong :)
Thanks for the suggestions of books, I need more reading material! Sarah Hendrickx is very good. I also have Pretending To Be Normal by Lianne Halliday Willey.
I got Aspergirls by Rudy Simone, I really would not recommend it, she lumps everyone together using "we" then there's a chapter about how diet can make autism better. Avoid!
ooh yes odd girl out was good
Hi - welcome to the group. I'm in my mid-twenties and waiting for my assessment.
I'd also add 'Odd Girl Out' by Laura James to the list - she was also late-diagnosed. I know they're not books, but Purple Ella's YouTube videos have helped me to learn a lot.
Hope you hear back on your assessment soon.
The Sarah hendrickx one is excellent, and the Cynthia Kim one someone else has mentioned (nerdy shy and socially inappropriate)
You have created a nice collection of books and links :)

No worries
Thank you, that’s helpful! I have a few articles co-authored by Baron-Cohen, I’ll give them a read too.
Uta Frith and Simon Baron-Cohen are both good authors. I have heard that Donna Williams is a good author too.
thank you for the book recommendation and links to the articles, there looks like some useful content here that I can look at over the weekend.
thank you Graham, this article was very helpful and something that felt quite relatable during a time of need!
Thank you, I will look into this title.
Cynthia Kim "nerdy shy and socially inappropriate" made me really go "wow, I'm autistic". If you go to her web page pretty much everything from her books is also on there - especially the "I think I might be.." https://musingsofanaspie.com/ and https://musingsofanaspie.com/adult-diagnosis/
yeah I thought that as well
There is an article here that may interest you by, Eloise Stark.

Remember there are no definitive accounts of autism.
I really enjoyed "22 things a woman with aspergers wants her partner to know", it's a light and easy read so it's great for sharing with friends and family too.
I also couldn't get on with NeuroTribes - I found it very dull
