Massive anxiety. Going back to work tomorrow

I am a teacher returning to work tomorrow after the summer holidays and my anxiety is super high tonight. It is an inset day tomorrow and therefore it is all adults and lots of " How was your summer ?"

Any ideas how to calm down tonight and how to cope with tomorrow?

Someone told the deputy head something I said last term so I don't know who to trust any more and that is making it worse.

  • Hey I'm a teacher with inset tomo as well!  I'm fortunate that my HT is very supportive and also a few other key colleagues. So they know I might skip some of the sessions during the day if it's too much.

One little sneaky white lie I have used in the past before I'd told people was feigning illness so needing time out.

I hate the small talk too and try and avoid those I know persist in asking.  I usually go for something neutral like good,  you? " and hope they then witter on rather than asking me questions.

    Hope it goes well.

  • Thank you. Hopefully tomorrow is only being talked at in the morning and the afternoon is getting the school ready for the kids tomorrow. I am lucky as I am not a class teacher (I teach music during PPA) so I am not teaching this week.

There is just a lot of unknown tomorrow and Thursday. (I only work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
