How scared of Autism are they? - When your strengths and abilities cause fear

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2019/aug/02/andrew-bolts-mocking-of-greta-thunberg-leaves-autism-advocates-disgusted

The above has just been reported on the Guardian newspaper website in relation to an Australian Journalist mocking Greta Thunburg about her "mental disorders" (she is on the spectrum)

--

"Daniel Skorich, an autism researcher at the University of Queensland, said Bolt’s description of autism was incorrect and was “dangerous in the message it sends about autistic people”.

“In contrast to Andrew Bolt’s derisory claims, what autism is not is a ‘disorder which intensify fears’, ‘a fault, and a dangerous one’, that makes autistic people ‘deeply disturbed’ and ‘irrational’, nor one that gives them ‘all that certainty that unreason can possibly give,’” Skorich said.

The condition was “characterised by difficulties in social interaction and communication”, he said.

But it also leads to “relative strengths in many areas, particularly in the arts, and in the natural sciences, where autistic people are over-represented relative to neurotypicals”, Skorich said."

How scared are people of you? Any why?

  • Morning Ele,

We havn't communicated for a while but im glad you never went anywhere, hope your ok.

I've created a seperate account to discuss this as allowing what i am about to say here to publicly be linked to very vulnerable posts is not a wise move.

I am the older, broken, male Greta. We are Indigos. We cannot help but to try to change the world for the better, it is literally hard coded in our DNA (Aspie PDA ODD), I cannot ignore injustice and say nothing, it's akin to a bee not collecting pollen.(suppressing the urge to make a comment about bee decline)

I have been the driving force behind 2 international movements both of which you will all know. Techniques and strategies i developed are now part of the everyday activists toolbox. Nothing i do is illegal, it is all technology and media, deployed on the frontline. I don't 'protest' the atmosphere is too much, i produce documentary type videos telling the actual story and provide all sorts of media production. My MO is to 'bear witness'. I'm pretty sure i was the first 'keyboard warrior', but a time came when the seperation the internet provided became a hinderance and i had to put boots on the ground.

This has been the biggest source of joy and pain to be perfectly frank.

When you are effective in what you do and then offer a physical target to be attacked it is too delicious for your opponents to resist, in my case its the oil and gas industry.

I lived feet from a fracking rig once in a tent documenting the process (hardest thing i've ever done, aspie nightmare.), my films have been the backbone of legal challenges which kept them at bay for years, ive cost just this one company tens of millions.

Ive had my car sabotaged numerous times, one occasion the fuel tank was unbolted, tried to drive me off the road a few times, a security company 'cuckooed' my life (infiltrated) and turned it upside down, raided by the police whilst filming (they took all my equipment and returned it 24h later after much noise made by the local people), my beautiful dog was poisoned and killed.

    Why?

Its because of our neurodiverse nature, we are out of the box thinkers (what box) we don't do the expected (predicted?), we tend to be more cerebral and when all the stars align a true power to be reckoned with. We don't crave the same things, material wealth or status (i'm purposefully never on camera, they're not MY stories, the message is the message.), this means we cannot be bought by trinkets (Greta needs to be careful here with the company she keeps and not become the greenerati), our single mindedness, hyperfocus, attention to detail.

We are also at our most vulnerable and i fear for Gretas future.
