Gender Dysphoria

Hi, my name is Elvis and I am new here.

I was first daignosed with ASD when I was 13, I'm 22 now and my life is just a mess!

I have many issues - OCD, anxiety.. however one issue which is getting worse all the time is gender dysphoria. I'm not sure if anybody else suffers from it, but since I was a child I have always wanted to be a girl. I like their clothes, their toys, everything about them is appealing to me and I feel like a girl, just trapped inside this body. My parents are of ill health and I have no friends, no job and am just feeling so stressed and confused.

If anyone has any experience with this and can help me then that would be great.

Thanks for your time.

  • Thank you both for your sharing your opinions and experiences of this. I'm not really sure what to do to be honest. I have 0 social skills and can't talk to my parents about it either so I'm feeling really alone regarding this. Not sure what to do now.

  • Hello Elvis, have you considered speaking to your GP about a referral to a Gender Clinic? I was signposted there after a psychiatric assessment  and  I'm currently on oestrogen and a testosterone blocker. I identify as me as labels annoy me which the clinic is aware of. I changed my forename and my title is Mx. I'm not saying my experience has any bearing on your situation but only by speaking to a professional would you be able to address issues and gain more insight. I found out I was Autistic in March this year.

  • Hi Elvina, I have considered going to my gp but I do struggle with panic attacks at such places so am feeling anxious about going, also I worry about speaking about how I feel to another person face to face.. But I am definitely considering it.

Big congrats on going to your GP! i am so happy for you. You must eb really happy with the progress you have made so far. Thanks for the advice, it means a lot.

Welcome to the spectrum! I hope life and your future treats you well Slight smile
