Diagnosed!

Finally, after 19 months waiting and soul searching, I have my positive diagnosis. I'm just back home after the ADOS which gave the missing piece of the jigsaw to the clinicians. There was more chat & less "tasks" than I expected, but that was all to the good as it helped them to complete the picture.

Thank you so much to all of you for your words of encouragement so far; now we start chapter 2!

  • Like I did when I passed my driving test - vindicated & validated (as in I knew I could drive well & just needed the official paperwork - yes I was an arrogant teenager :-) ). And I have the ability to use a much shorter explanation - if I ever need it - for my needs than "I struggle to hear and focus when there are conversations going on, struggle with working memory and social cues and get exhausted by eye contact and being around people for more than half an hour". I now have "I'm autistic / have autism".

    Thanks for the welcome :-).
