What are your coping mechanisms

I have negative coping mechanisms for dealing with sadness and anxiety:

‘’daydreaming excessively

spending excessive hours on my ipad

staying in bed all day 

positive coping mechanisms:

listening to quiet music’

spending a short amount of time watching tv or on ipad

going to the gym

taking a walk

calling a friend.

what are your coping mechanisms? 

I ‘I really want to start working again but find working so stressful and trying to find out what coping mechanisms might help.

  • Exercise - primarily running as you can do it anytime, anyplace as long as you have your kit... 10 mile trail runs are a feature of weekends with my in-laws!

    Music - LOUD, fast paced, good beat

    Online gaming - escape rather than coping

    Books - escape rather than coping
