Got my report (a surprise as I'm still waiting for ADOS)

The report says pretty much what I was expecting:

  • Evidence of qualitative impairments in social and emotional reciprocity, non verbal communication deficits and difficulties maintaining relationships
  • Insufficient evidence in stereotyped and/or repetitive behaviours or highly restricted and fixated interests

So - on the face of it at this stage - not autistic.

Still will take a while to process but I was already a little ahead of the game I think - i.e. I just need to love myself as I am and not worry about what everyone else thinks.

I'm not sure how the ADOS might or might not change this conclusion. Particularly as I think ADOS is about social imagination ant interaction, so even a "positive" on the ADOS would add to the already ticked box whilst doing nothing to address the un-ticked box?

Still leaves me wondering "what am I?"

To be continued :-)

I think this is a good attitude! Regardless of the results, this is more important.

I'm not sure either. Maybe just do the ADOS and see what they say? It's possible that they want to collect more evidence before making a decision. And it might be helpful to better understand yourself from hearing their feedback on the ADOS.

firemonkey's suggestion of atypical autism (or PDD-NOS) could also be a possibility?
