Mr Tambourine Man
That's why I posted the question because I know how varied my taste is I wondered if others had the same tendency and this proves my hypothesis.
Yep Portishead are good too. They are from my neck of the woods, well where I was born anyway.
I'm noticing something - we all seem to have much more ecclectic taste than most of the NT's I know? I feel like I'll listen to music from pretty much any genre if it happens to resonate with me.
Ah yes, I particularly like Teardrop, Unfinished Sympathy and the whales singing in Big Wheel. Finley Quaye did some nice stuff solo too. I liked Sour Times from Portishead - as did everyone that year :D
what about massive attack?
God that takes me back to Berlin when the wall was still up!
This is a very rock-oriented posse here? In A State - James Lavelle, Gingo Marv - Chemical Brothers, Tanz Musik - Kraftwerk, Across the Universe - Beatles, Soul Limbo - Booker T & The MGs, Sex Machine - James Brown, Dunya - Mercan Dede; Samba Pa Ti/Black Magic Woman - Santana, I can see clearly now - Johnny Nash, I Just Want to Make Love to You/At Last - Etta James, Bug Powder Dust - La Funk Remix, Smalltown Boy - Communards, Graceland/Call Me Al - Paul Simon, The Lady is a Tramp - Ella Fitzgerald version, Little Wing/1983 A Merman I Will Be - Jimi Hendrix, Alison - Elvis Costello, Chimes of Freedom/For Ramona - Bob Dylan, Allelujah - Bradley Will Simpson Vamps version, Through the Dark/Big Black Horse and the Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall, Ne Me Quitte Pas/If you Go Away - English version Judith Durham, I Love to Love - Nina Simone, Blue Train - Coltrane, Fix You - Coldplay, Song for Shelter - Fatboy Slim, Mediterranian Sun Dance - Paco de Lucia/John Mclaughlin/Al di Meola, Love the One You're With - Stephen Stills, Just Ask The Lonely - Four Tops, Grandma's Hands - Bill Withers, Refuge of the Roads/Cactus Tree - Joni Mitchell, Can't Keep From Crying - John Renbourne version, Light Flight - Pentangle - I dunno, depends on my mood but there's a cross-section.
99 red balloons that's a good track.
yea I just listened to that its really say. I couldn't listen to that at the moment.
Oh my god I've seen 'Kevin bloody Wilson' live! and Jenny T. So funny the DILLIGAF song and the I've had a beeeep of a day, also the Christmas ones are funny and Nigel , I'd put a link on here but I don't think it would be appreciated, I sometimes sing that as I walk in the door at night if I've had a bad day my OH wets himself...
Depends entirely on mood...
Shape of You (Major Lazer remix), Feel it Still (Portugal, The man), Lean On (Major Lazer) all at high volume basically 'dissolve' me and help stop shutdowns
Back in Black (ACDC), Ante Up (M.O.P), Bust a Move (Young MC) again, at high volume all 'pump me up' giving me energy
Tea & Toast (Lucy Spraggan), The Tourist (Lucy Spraggan), 99 Red Balloons (Nena) all make me weep, which sometimes I feel like I need to do, but in a way I can 'control' - is that weird?
But generally a very eclectic music taste...
Oh yes, mood dependent I go to the heavier "punk" sounds of Wildhearts, Metallica, Volbeat, etc and other times soft (Thunder, ACDC, Pink Floyd, etc) and even chart stuff (Avicii, Duran Duran, T'Pau, Whitney Houston, etc). For some fun I put on some Kevin "Bloody" Wilson and "Comic Strip Presents" Bad News
I’m into music that I can use to express my emotions and that I can relate to through the lyrics. I listen to NF who has multiple songs that are emotional like how could you leave us.
