Up to just over 2 and half years ago I volunteered for South Yorkshire Police at an educational facility in Hellaby, Rotherham ca;;ed tje :ofewose Centre, it was an excllent position working with 10 and 11 year old school kids escorting them between scenarios at the Centre, only reason I left after being there from October 2008 to ||August 2015 was that the local Social services moved the goal posts regarding funding for my transport there and back, they increased the price each way considerably and said I had to pay it, which I could ill afford so I was forced to resign
Anyway I have considered and applied 3 times for the local Special Constabulary, and on the third attempt in August 2011 I attended a formal interview at Snig Hill Police Station in Sheffield City Centre, unfortunately I didn't pass the interview as they said my answers to the competency based questions were "too short and didn't go into enough detail".
I am aware that due to being classed as disabled I could never sign up for the regular Police force because I would not pass the medical and fitness requirements, but I feel I could do the same job on a voluntary basis as you only have to work 16 hours a month, a minimum of 4 hours a week, and without much juggling I could've itted in 2 4 hour shifts a week.
Wiith all the above in mind, and given that about 7 and half years have passed since I i originally promised Mum and Dad I wouldn't go for attempt #4, should I try again given that I'm now in my early 40's?!
Helpful answers will be gratefully welcomed.
