Really bad time

Hi, I'm having a really awful time at the moment. I've just had a disciplinary at work  where they have questioned my diagnosis. I am at a total loss as to where to turn. I admitted to an error and am now being severely punished for it, I always thought honesty was the best policy but I am being hung for my honesty. I am completely losing faith in humanity as what I always believed to be the right thing to do is turning out to be the worst thing to do. I also have loads of positive feedback in relation to how good I am at my job. I have a disability solicitor who says I have a good case but how reliable is this? p.s sometimes the only things going are some of the funny threads on here....

  • Sorry to read this, Bookworm.

They're questioning your diagnosis?  So your employer knows more than the medical professional that diagnosed you?

Do you think they might be trying to make a case for constructive dismissal?

I would say it does sound like you have a good case for discrimination.  Are you in a union?  They should be defending you, too.

You know you're good at your job.  You have been honest in owning up to a mistake.  And you have a diagnosis that they cannot question.

It sounds like you've got a lot on your side.  Try to keep positive with it.

I know what you mean, though, about how it makes you start to lose faith.

Good luck with it and keep us informed.

  • I think you could be right Martian Tom, problem is that sort of case is apparently rarely successful so I'm going to have to give it a great deal of considerstion.
