Newly diagnosed with moderate asd

I've been diagnosed within the last 2 weeks having moderate asd. Although this diagnosis was inevitable and initially I was happy to have a reason for being the way I am but since getting the diagnosis I an feeling more and more lost and anxious about this. I don't know what to do next who to talk to it how to process my emotions about it.

I'm finding myself snapping at the littlest things and I hate that and I feel like I'm pushing the people closest to me away.

I really don't know what to do or how to feel

  • Hi,

I'm sure others on the site will be better to help you as I'm not autistic just a parent to an asd child, but from reading others posts this seems quite common and you need to give yourself time to adjust although you are no different to before diagnosis having it formalised can sometimes seem to make it worse.

You need to take time for you and allow yourself to be you ( probably sounds silly ) many people here have dealt with this hopefully one of them can be more help

I wish you all the best x
