Aspergers diagnosis process

Hi

I am 28 years old and my partner and I know I have aspergers. So I have made a self referral through NHS to get a diagnosis. So I can get the correct help. Can anybody enlighten me on the process in diagnosis and how long it takes?

  • I’m 32, aspergers and had my assessment September just gone. Had to wait a year and at the assessment there was one psychiatrist, it was supposed to be two assessment but I asked as I’ve waited so long can we do it all in one go. I was diagnosed with autism there and then even though she did say aspergers. Try anThumbsuptake a parent with you or someone who saw you growing up and be prepared as they ask you a lot of personal questions that can take it out of you. I hope you get the help you need mate, all the best

    It would be impossible to take family members as I was brought up through the care system. Which I do not have fond memories of and I do not have any family. I have already wasted 4 years on pyschodynamic therapy. Which was a total waste of time. Aspergers fits me like a glove.
