Do you use an Accountant? For a tax return or ongoing - please read! Autistic Accountant wanting to adjust our processes

Hey,

I am an Autistic Accountant and have thought a lot recently about how it is society that makes our lives so hard, with it just not being built for us. This got me thinking does my firm even practice what I preach about society needing to be flexible.

If you are an Autistic, Dyslexic or have another disability that makes using an accountant hard I want to know why. Please reach out to me and we can discuss what your accountant does right or wrong to help support you.

Do they rely on phone calls? Do they change things without sufficient notice or explanation? Do they send you large paragraphs of text that are hard to read?

I want to adjust our processes but  I cannot talk for all Autistic's and certainly not all disabilities. If you or someone you know has a disability and uses an Accountant I'd love to chat to them.

Thanks!

Rosie

  • I have a small family business and used to control my inventory and money inflow outflow by myself. I have to know more responsibilities, opportunities, revenue increases, so inventory and I find it hard to manage. Since I do not have an office, my accountant helps me online. We do chat through emails, and surprisingly it goes very well. My accountant is intelligent and risky. During Cvid, my business got nearly bankrupt, and she told me [Removed by Mod] to demonstrate my lousy situation to get a credit from the bank.how to get pay stubs

  • Thanks for your replies. I gathered enough research to put a case to my company and they are on board to make our services more accessible to those with hidden disabilities, especially dyslexia (as given our service it is a huge barrier).

Incredibly excited to see this get put into action. Thanks everyone :)

  • I am self employed, dyslexic and somewhere on the spectrum. I file my own returns online as I think its less hassle than dealing with a person, also I like to keep my finances personal and not share that information with a stranger. I quite enjoy doing the maths involved and don't feel an accountant could help me.
