Struggles with the NHS.

I have diagnosed ASD, and I really struggle with hospital visits  I should have been admitted for a procedure today, but I totally freaked out and left.

I live alone, so waiting on a busy ward was extra stressful. I tried not to a problem, so I waited quietly, for a couple hours. Apart from a couple of forms to fill in, I was very much left to it.

When I finally asked when I might be seen, I was told 'oh, you're last'. When I asked why, I was told, you are staying in, so everyone else needs the time to recover.. This didn't make any sense. I had to be kept in because I live alone, so I felt that I was being penalised because of this.

It was really hard just being there, but hanging on while everyone else was seen, was unbearable. I could not stick it out anymore. I had to leave, without an important procedure being done.

Felt tearful all the way home. I just don't know how to stick out these places, especially when the treatment I receive seems so unfair.

  • I’m a nurse that works for the nhs did you let them know about your disability as they could of moved you up the list so you were seen a lot quicker to prevent anxiety and stress, or put you in a side room where there less going on. Asfor staying in hospital that is rountine procedure it’s for your own safety in case anything happens to you, nothing personal
