Medication that can mitigate autism and anxiety

I have a very unhappy other half who has requested that I go to the doctors today to get some medication to make sure that I don't "ruin Christmas" (I had a panic attack/meltdown at the weekend).

Can anyone recommend anything that will help?

thank you

Ellie

  • Being one who finds it very difficult to take any medication at all even when I am feeling at my most anxious or depressed, I find the best course of action when situations arise is to escape from them altogether.

A walk, a drive or a different environment, even retiring to another (quiet) room, can often be beneficial.  This isn't 'running away' from the problem or sulking, but a time for inner reflection and thought. And time to see whether the problem is oneself (sometimes it is, often it isn't).  Being manipulated by someone else for their own ends is never good, and often those who we love most are the worst offenders for this.

If someone thinks you are going to 'ruin Christmas' the best way of dealing with it is with understanding, not  to want to try to get you medicated to numbness.
