What did you have for breakfast today?

Happy Monday! How was breakfast for you?

Mine was bread rolls, cornflakes and chamomile tea... I'm in a hostel on the Camino Costal in Portugal, surrounded by a very mixed group, mainly individuals, most from other European countries, some from Asia, one cycling, the rest walking the pretty coastal route to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain :-)

The breakfast is actually much more interesting here, but I have tummy ache, so I missed out on the yoghurt, cheese, meat, hot chocolate, orange juice, etc...

  • Erm, hard to answer usually. I have terrible late-onset insomnia, so my body-clock thinks I live somewhere in the middle of the USA; I'm never quite sure which meal I should call "breakfast"!

My first meal today, at about 2pm, was a couple of wholemeal sarnies of delicious beech-smoked ham, some grapes, and a cup of very strong coffee. I don't often feel like eating for a while when I've first woken up; I'm very slow to wake in both body and mind. Quite often it's just the coffee (and cigarettes) for the first couple of hours until I feel ready to eat.

  • Oooh, what a pun! You've reminded me of German lessons at school and the jokes about Mutter und Vater (pronounced farter...)

    Thanks Plastic :-)

  • I love everyone's stories so far...how amazing that froma simple topic like "breakfast" I learnt so much about the lives of other NAS forum users...wunderbar! Bis bald... A x

Wholemeal toast and marmite - yum yum :-).  Your's sounds nice though if it's relaxed and not rushed.  I worked for a German company for a while and they would occasionally fly us out to Munich for meetings.  We used to walk into the office from the hotel and stop at one of the tube stations on the way - they had a pretzel stand that used to sell most excellent pretzels with cold meats and cheeses.   Mmmmm!

  • Hi Anna - we have loads of sunshine here - so much so that it arrives in pure liquid form.

I'm usually up early - got some health problems that need time to stabilise and today I had to do errands from 7am - hence the early start.

  • I had the opposite problem - I finally got to sleep at 4am...that must be why I didn’t fancy any breakfast when I got up at 8am (too sleepy!).

    Your breakfast/brunch sounds yummy though.

  • Yuuuuuuum! That's what I call a proper breakfast. Do you always wake very early or is something troubling you?

    Sending sunshine...

    Anna

  • Sounds lovely.

Here in cold, wet UK, I had home-made beefburgers, mushrooms & mash & gravy (load of stuff needed to be used up) and a huge mug of tea.

I've been up since 4am so breakfast became 9am brunch.
