Never had help

Hey all, I’m new to this and not a good talker.

i find out I had autism when I was 19 and that was four years ago. School and childhood life was hard, I have any happy memories of it really. Anyway I’ve still not had help or even a description of how autism affects me and I’m still not getting any help and tbh it’s a relief to know I have it but I still feel extremely alone in the world as I’m still left without help. I live in the north west of England and they’re aren’t any places to help with autism so I’m at a loss. I’ve actually reached a point where I’ve had enough of dealing with my perks on my own. I need help now and I can’t wait any longer.

Hi, welcome to the community and I hope you find things informative and interesting. This is tough and your going through a common experience which is simply not acceptable. I’m not sure whether your specifically based but would advise that you look at the following for more information:

• The National Autistic Society Directory which lists available services that might be available locally: https://www.autism.org.uk/directory.aspx

• Contacting your local council and ask whether there are any local autism support services;

• Speak to your GP and ask about any NHS support if you feel you need it;

• Consider signing up for the National Autistic Society E-Befriending Scheme: https://www.autism.org.uk/directory/search-results/pg=1~sid=1045538~s=1/resources/1835.aspx

• If your looking for ASD information, you could start with the NAS website and consider the leaflets that are free to download. There are also lots of books that are good but it depends on how you would like to access information (I found The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome by Tony Attwood good for me). There is also some free online courses such as:

a. Understanding Autism, Aspergers and ADHD with University of Derby Online Free Courses:
