How long should an assessment take?

Took my 18 year old daughter for her assessment about two weeks ago and we were there for six hours,

five of those hours were spent answering questions. It was an extremely hot day and we were stuck in a room

with one fan going, it was horrendous! I felt frazzled let alone my poor daughter and it's not over yet, daughter

got to go back for another couple of hours of tests.

Is this normal?

  • I went on my own and had two appointments: 'extended clinical interview' (I think 2 hours), and the ADOS-2 test (about an hour). After that was a feedback session.

Six hours seems a lot, but they needed to talk to both of you and seem to be being very thorough. Hopefully it will make sense when you get a result and report. How they decided is probably worth knowing.
