Weak Stomach / Squeamish

So been to therapist today and we randomly got on about how I am keeping my kitten as a house cat and one of the reasons is that I can't deal with him bringing in dead birds or mice as I'm squeamish to stuff like that... She replied of course which then got me questioning why that would be an of course, she reckons she's never not worked someone who has the condition who isn't squeamish of some sort to stuff like that or to blood etc..

What's other peoples thoughts as I've not been able to find anything of the sort to suggest that this is common.

I do have a ridiculously weak stomach to that sort of stuff and smells.

  • I can't stand dead birds or mice either, or corpses of any kind. It doesn't make me feel ill or anything. It's more of a phobia. The idea of a once living body now lifeless and devoid of a soul really bothers me. That might not count as squeamishness, though.

Fortunately, my cats don't often bring in birds or mice. When my cat does bring in a bird, it's often still alive, which causes several other difficulties. What I really hate is having to capture and remove spiders from my house, and there are big ones around here. I always hope that they won't find their way back in.

I do seem to have a really good sense of smell sometimes, but that doesn't often make me feel sick. I would say I am more often bothered by a noise (like someone chewing loudly or sniffing or sometimes just the way someone talks). I never actually get sick from that though. It just really annoys me, especially if there's no way I can politely get away from them.

I could be wrong, but I think most people, whether on the spectrum or not, have something that bothers them in some way. Maybe we just tend to have a stronger reaction.

Greetings. I believe that this is of course perfectly true.

...I also wanted to suggest something to Cat owners here which they may not know. The common solution to preventing your Cat from stalking then capturing smaller animals is to put a Bell around the Cat's neck. (That is advice I have read, anyway.)
