Assessment in September

Hi. I'm 27 and I have a date for my assessment in September. I was hoping for some advice for it, especially if/when they ask about work.

When I went to the GP to ask for referral he almost didn't because I have a job and went to university and I had to work hard to persuade him. Is this the kind of thing I can expect to hear at the assessment?

My fiance is coming with me to the appointment. Will they speak to us together, seperately etc?

Thanks.

  • I asked to be referred four times and was told no three times, the fourth time I was told I was not autistic but they'd give me the referral questionnaire to stop me from keep asking. In contrast, 40 minutes into my assessment with autism specialists I was given the autism diagnosis! This has taught me not too worry too much about the opinions of laymen.

My assessment was three hours long, it was predominantly an interview with a few practical tasks. I went alone and commented on my childhood myself.

Like you I have been to uni and have a job (I teach).
