Assessment in September

Hi. I'm 27 and I have a date for my assessment in September. I was hoping for some advice for it, especially if/when they ask about work.

When I went to the GP to ask for referral he almost didn't because I have a job and went to university and I had to work hard to persuade him. Is this the kind of thing I can expect to hear at the assessment?

My fiance is coming with me to the appointment. Will they speak to us together, seperately etc?

Thanks.

  • Hello and welcome.

I'd expect the assessors will be much more aware of the differences within autism, and be more accepting of what you say, so you can talk about problems at work or in general.  Usually the assessors like if possible to talk to someone who knew you as a child. There may well be more than one appointment, maybe including some practical tasks which you can do on your own, while observed - at least, that's what I had.

By the way, you may like to alter your username from the default NAS3xxxx. Just go to the round button right up the top-right of the page, then click 'Profile' and then 'Edit profile'.
