Well, I can't say I've achieved any of my tasks today. But I went out and saw irises in flower, and watched a bumblebee, and a mallard with six tiny ducklings, and a woman sharing her friend's happiness at her small baby, while being sure I wasn't feeling any envy or jealousy. Not quite sure how I managed that. It just seemed to happen.
I think that seeing things like this and actually still being in awe of them is an admirable way of being. I look around and I'm in awe of the world. At times it's the only thing that's got me through. I'd go out with my grandfather as a kid and he'd point out all of the things that people mostly pass by. I'd learn so much stuff about nature and biology. I'll always be in debt to him for that, he made the world seem like an endless source of wonder. God that sounds so schmaltzy, lol.
