    My late mother used to tell us that we are not allowed to open any presents until Boxing day.

    Because Boxing day is the day you're supposed to open the boxes.  That's why they call it Boxing day!

    She also spent her entire life calling my sister's best friend, Boxana, her actual name was Oksana (she was a Ukrainian girl).

    I always think of Boxing day as the day that has better tv than Christmas day.  And the proper start of winter. And new year.
